Oh. This is just part of a game. Ignore it if you donโt want to play, and weโll Leave you in peace.
o lol, didnโt know you were still active! Iโm showing BM users some cool things that happened in BM
Iโll post the next clue in a few hours
Oh wow! Thanks. That is very helpful.
When I was an SDA, I believed that my soul was sleeping in my dead body and would be woken up when Jesus returned at which point Iโd be judged and go to heaven or hell. As Iโve studied more about this, I see that the SDA church teaches that when God created us, he breathed into us the breath of life. When our bodies die then, the breath returns to God and our bodies disintegrate into nothing. Godโs breath is part of him, it doesnโt have anything to do with us. So when we die, SDAs teach that we donโt exist anymore at all. when Jesus returns he will have to recreate us from nothing.
Ooof, sorry Noah! just saw this. Iโll answer you in a sec.
What about what SDAs believe about the soul being imprisoned and asleep until the Day of Judgment?
Good question Noah. or what about all the people who live in the arctic circle where the sun doesnโt set during the summer.
Whoops, forgot to introduce myself. Iโm Noah
What about the French; their weeks start with Monday and end with Sunday. Would they have to be Sixth Day Adventists to agree with all the Saturday worshipers?
Good luck Latte. Honestly, if you have a choice, I wouldnโt start with the Sabbath. There is too much of a wall around it. I would start by asking her if she knows what the gospel is. If not, then tell her the gospel. That is more important anyway.
If that is too confusing, sorry. Arguing against the creation story is a little bit more difficult to do succinctly. You could show her how in the Bible the early church seemed to meet on the first day. They called it โThe Lordโs Dayโ. We know this from some early church fathers but she probably wonโt accept that. so youโll have to give her texts like Mark 16:2 which says, โโVery early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tombโ. This shows that Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week. Revelation 1:10 says, โโOn the Lordโs Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,โ This is the only place in the Bible referring to the Lordโs Day. Notice that the disciples met together on the first day of the week. Acts 20:7 says, โโOn the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the peopleโฆ.โ and 1 Corinthians 16:2 it says, โOn the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.โ โญ
Ask her to look at the creation story. Notice that for each day in creation, it says โthere was evening, there was morning, the ______ (first, second) dayโ. It says that for all but the seventh day. God is still in his seventh day rest because he is not creating anymore. We โenter his restโ by trusting in Jesus, the Sabbath was the foreshadowing of that.
Hi Latte, good question. I would show her Deuteronomy 5:3 where it says โโIt was not with our ancestors that the Lord made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today.โ โญโญThis is talking about the Ten Commandments. If you need evidence that the Ten Commandments are the covenant then show her Deuteronomy 4:13 โโHe declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.โ โญโญDeuteronomyโฌ โญ4โฌ:โญ13โฌ โญ
btw I was just saying hello every time I checked to see if anyone had answered but alas no one had so I just said hello!
Hi, Iโll respond in a bit.
you could also join learning the language
have you joined either one?
ok I made our group Larissa ps can I have admin?๐
I also made a group called Learning the Language
I love God is a group of mine that has no one in it so if you join both then I will give you admin on both and then post it on the less popular one ๐
because I would love to talk more deeply about it with you
then we can talk about this topic more with out hurting other peopleโs feelings and beliefs
Larissa I would love to have a group to ourselves if you want to I will make one and tell you the name on my unpopular group called brookwater and then give you admin and you can erase it as soon as you see the name
but also think that we should be careful about what we say because it could hurt someoneโs feelings because not many people agree on the same thing so just to be cautious that we donโt say things that hurt
You are right Banderhorstkidz, words are very powerful. Itโs how we know the Bible is true. Many people have tried to add to it or make their owns versions of the Bible but it doesnโt work!
Hello I was just reading back and then I just started to realize how powerful words can get
๐Happy 4th of July!๐๐๐๐๐๐ I could not send this greeting if it had not been for the sacrifice of brave men who literally stood up to evil to obtain the freedom we now enjoy in this country. Their faithfulness is a reminder of how hard it was for the United States of America to come into being. Here is the story. https://youtu.be/YaxGNQE5ZLA?si=IP8Of2BRQUaKZvRT
Thatโs right Berean. If we donโt climb a ladder to salvation, how can we climb down a ladder out of salvation? It is the gift of God, thatโs right.
Just wanted to add something to that last convo, even though it did happen a month or two ago. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God, not from yourselves, so that no one can boast. If we are not saved by works, then how can we be unsaved by our actions. No where in the bible will you find a verse that says anything about works change whether you go to heaven or not. it is the gift of God, and we donโt have the receipt.
I think I gave you admin already.
There is too much to unpack there with all their proof texts, Iโm not sure where to start. I think I will stay off their page and only engage them if they come on here or on your page if thatโs ok with you.
So I went to that group. It seems like the group is run by Julina and Marilyn. Is that correct?
So no matter how many times we sin after being born again whether murder or lying, it doesnโt matter, we are still saved. Does that mean we should sin all the more because grace abounds? No way! And when you are indwellt with the Holy Spirit and start to walk in the Spirit, you donโt want to sin anymore. Sometimes you walk in the flesh after you are born again and you will sin, but you are still saved. catch what Iโm saying? I hope I explained better.
I guess what Iโm talking about Bubble is that when we accept Jesus as our savior, we are hidden in him. we do not enter into judgment but when God looks at us he sees Jesus.
well, Jesus died for our past, present, and future sins. So no matter what we did in the past, are doing now, or so in the future, we will be saved. Does that mean we should sin all the more because grace increases? As Paul said, by no means!
Iโm confused because you said previously โif you do disobey God and fulfill your flesh by murdering someone but are born again, you will still go to heaven.โ what do you mean by that?
No I donโt believe that. Being baptized is good, but it doesnโt save you. Only accepting Jesus as your sacrifice saves you.
So do you believe that if you have been baptised into the church it confirms that you will be in heaven?
hmm, not sure how it doesnโt answer your question. If baptized members of a church have trusted Jesus as their savior and turned away from their sins and toward Jesus, then they are saved. If they havenโt, then they arenโt saved.
Ok, but that doesnโt answer my question. If you say that there are people who will not go to heaven who are members of the church and baptised into the faith than how are you able to know if you will go to heaven or not?
Well Bubble, these are good questions. Tares are people who have proclaimed they are Christians, people who go to church, even baptized members of church who havenโt trusted the Lord Jesus with their salvation.
if you say that there are people who will not got to heaven who are members of the church and baptized into the faith than how are you able to know if you will go to heaven or not?
Now when you say there are rates in the church that means you think that some people in the church wonโt go to heaven. so, what makes you not a part of that number? If someone goes by the once saved, always saved factor than what separates those who will go to heaven and those who wonโt?
the Ten Commandments in the most simple terms. if anyone were to break a part of the Ten Commandments they were to sacrifice a lamb. of course, the Bible goes deeper into that and itโs more complicated but if you want to get into all the rules and regulations of the old covenant just looking Leviticus or Deuteronomy.
Under the old covenant which you are referring to with the sacrifices, which sin breaks the law?
Accepting Jesusโ sacrifice makes you a real Christian. Having saving faith in our Lord Jesus makes you a real Christian. Iโd point you to the parable of the sower. some seed fell on rocky soil, some on the path, etc. Some seeds fell on good soil. We are compelled at the end of this parable to be good soil. Iโm saying there are tares in the church that are hard to differentiate between real Christians.
Furthermore, what distinguishes a false Christian from a real Christian? I know someone who was baptized and seemed so strongly committed to God, but in a few years they became a completely different person. Do you think that a person who is baptized and studies their bible everyday is guaranteed to be in heaven?
Iโm not saying that little sins โdonโt countโ, but that when you do something like snapping at your mother it does not push you as far from God than murdering someone. Even the Bible makes a difference with this as we can see that the morning and evening sacrifice were for the โcommon peopleโs sinsโ. However, when someone intentionally broke the law and did something like murder, they would have to sacrifice one of their own lambs. I am not saying that small sins donโt count, but that greater sins require greater repentance.
Iโm not saying there arenโt false Christians out there. There are many who claim to be Christian but their fruit shows what they really are, tares.
It sounds to me like you are saying that sins that we keep on doing (such as cheating on your wife) separate us from the love and forgiveness of God where as sins we do once (like being disrespectful to your mom) doesnโt hurt our standing with God because he knows our hearts. What if I just murder one time? James 2:10 says, โFor whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.โ โญโญSo I break the law if I lie same as if I murder.
Iโm not saying that if I was disrespectful to my mother and then forgot to pray that night and died in my sleep I wouldnโt God to heaven. God knows my heart. What He looks for are the ones who constantly seek after Him. Those who strive toward His perfection. A person who was baptized into the church and goes every week, while simultaneously cheats on his wife is not someone fit for the kingdom of God. If that person truly repents and then moves away from that sin is the one who is fit for eternity with Jesus.
All sins make one fall short of the glory of God. As for being born again we have to commit our lives to God daily. Itโs not the God requires us to be perfect, but that we strive toward perfection. I have sinned so many times over the last week. However, my sins are cleansed because of true repentance. There is nothing that I can do to make myself righteous. Only through God is my sin gone. But if I do not change my ways after my sin, then I am not truly repentant. โFaith without works is deadโ
Go ahead and read Galatians and get back to me.
Do you have to be born again AGAIN after every sin? How does that work? Do you tell Jesus you accept him into your life again after every sin? What about snapping at your mom because you are really tired? Is that sin enough to lose your salvation over?
Well look at it this way Bubble. You understand that one will be saved if they are born again. Do you think you will lose your salvation if you sin? Which sins do you lose your salvation over? What about the sins you donโt know are sins or you forget about before confessing?
yes I definitely agree bubble
I understand that those who will be born again will be saved, but I donโt see how a once saved always saved works out. I canโt just murder someone, be completely unforgiving, and then continue to kill. If I do that until I die with no remorse in my heart I donโt see myself going to heaven. I think that if I killed someone and then realized I did wrong and truly repented of my sin THEN I would be saved. Even Lucifer was once committed to God, but people have free will and that means they can change.
Hi Bubble, welcome to the group. When you are born again as a Christian, the Holy Spirit dwells in you. He makes you a new creation. You donโt want to disobey God when you are in the new covenant. If you do disobey God and fulfill your flesh by murdering someone but you are born again, you will still go to heaven. John 5:24 says, โโI tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.โ โญโญ
Just saw this group and the debate going on it. Larissa, I donโt understand what you mean. If I identified myself as a Christian, got baptized, and then murdered someone would I still be in heaven? If conviction is the only thing that happens under the new covenant than I can do whatever I want with no reprimands.
โHe has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.โ โญโญ2 Corinthiansโฌ โญ3โฌ:โญ6โฌ โญ
Emma, under the new covenant we live in the Spirit. He convicts our hearts of sin.
โSo then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,โ โญโญGalatiansโฌ โญ3โฌ:โญ24โฌ-โญ25โฌ โญ
so if we donโt live by the Ten Commandments that means we are free to lie murder commit adultury
the Ten Commandments are still as effective today as in old
Larissa we are required to
And now that Christ has come and started the new covenant, we are not required to keep the old covenant with its Sabbath.
I will say that I donโt keep Sunday as Sabbath. I donโt keep any day as Sabbath as Sabbath was a shadow of Christ.
So youโve just quoted the Ten Commandments. This is part of the Old Covenant for Israelites. We are under the New Covenant now.
Donโt worry Emma, I donโt find you disrespectful. ๐
and it goes on to say โ and the lord blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it and he rested on the sabbath day from all the work he had done
I am being raised to respect my elders so If I have been disrespectful plz forgive me
it clearly states there that the seventh day is the sabbath
โsix days shalt thou labor and do all thy work but THE SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH OF THE LORD YOUR GOD
okay so in the Bible exodus chapter 20;8-9-10
okay and also plz remember I mean this with all the respect to you and your beliefs I have
Emma, go ahead and prove it. Iโm listening. ๐
Saturday is the sabbath I can prove it
